Funded by Operation Santa Claus, the first and second session of the Accessible Trails Workshop was successfully held in April and May at Tung Po. Around 70 wheelchair users, elderly, and student volunteers from Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) participated. The workshop included an introduction and sharing session on accessible trails, an overview of TrailWatch and its features, and a social media applications tutorial.
Many participants showed great enthusiasm for accessible trails. Wheelchair users expressed a strong desire to explore barrier-free hiking during the cooler autumn and winter months. Meanwhile, in the social media tutorial, many elderly participants learned how to use AI-powered tools to edit and enhance videos taken during the event before sharing them online. They found the opportunity to learn about cutting-edge technology highly rewarding. They hoped to practice more, so they could collaborate with wheelchair users to film and edit fun short clips during future accessible hikes, putting the newly acquired skills into practice.
