On 5th November, the “Nature for All, All for Nature” programme, co-organised by Manulife’s Tong Union, Parks and Trails, the School of Communication of Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU), and the HKBU Centre for Innovative Service-Learning, held its second activity — a sand art creation experience!

Under the careful guidance of sand art instructor Dereck, more than ten Manulife colleagues and over twenty HKBU students created their own designs together on the Pui O Beach. It was clear that everyone had a great time and truly enjoyed this opportunity to connect with nature, turning the beach into a giant canvas.

Each group of students came up with very thoughtful designs that reflected the work and values of Parks and Trails, such as “trail conservation,” “accessibility,” and “inclusion.” Meanwhile, the designs created by Tong Union colleagues symbolised their team spirit, representing ideals such as “holding love,” “mutual trust,” “exploring different opportunities,” and “experiencing extraordinary growth” within the workplace.

All participants were deeply engaged in the sand art activity. Some groups used brushes to measure distances, practised controlling the brush with body movements, and discussed how to collaborate effectively. After completing their artwork, participants shared their thoughts and reflections. Many expressed satisfaction with their creations and realised that nature offers abundant and wonderful materials for artistic expression. The whole process was also very environmentally friendly, producing no waste — truly a valuable experience!

Building on this special activity, HKBU students will soon design a social media campaign and a booth for the university’s “Environmental Pledge Day,” continuing to promote the vision of “Nature for All, All for Nature.” We are all looking forward to the upcoming events!
