Nature and Technology: Accessible Hiking Workshop (Session 5) Event Recap
27.11.2025

Sponsored by “Operation Santa Claus,” the fifth Accessible Hiking Workshop was successfully held on 22 October 2025. Despite a sudden cold snap before the event, it still attracted two wheelchair users, 12 elderly participants, and 16 volunteers from Hong Kong Baptist University.

The workshop partnered with “Little Woods Nature Education” for the first time, bringing participants a range of new activities, including:

  1. Beginner’s Guide to Accessible Hiking: Introduction to wheelchair-friendly route planning and practical tips
  2. TrailWatch App Tutorial: Detailed guidance on recording and sharing accessible trails
  3. Introduction to the flora and fauna identification app “iNaturalist” and its features: Learning about plants and animals using the latest technology
  4. Faux specimen-making workshop: Professional instruction on creating artistic paper specimens

This workshop taught participants to use technology to identify various creatures and to craft paper specimens. Many participants were enthusiastic about learning the new knowledge and skills.

With the hiking season officially started, we will hold our first outdoor workshop at the Wetland Park in late November to let everyone experience the joy of accessible outings. The latest event details will be announced on our social media platforms, so please stay tuned!
