Nature and Technology: Accessible Hiking Workshop (Session 3 and 4) Event Recap
03.11.2025

Sponsored by “Operation Santa Claus,” the third and fourth session of the Accessible Hiking Workshops were successfully held on July 17 and August 13, 2025, respectively. The two sessions attracted a total of 8 wheelchair users and 52 elderly participants to explore the joys and possibilities of accessible hiking together.

The workshop covered four practical themes:

  1. Beginner’s Guide to Accessible Hiking: Introduction to wheelchair-friendly route planning and practical tips
  2. TrailWatch App Tutorial: Detailed guidance on recording and sharing accessible trails
  3. Hong Kong Native Plant Knowledge: Learning about local ecological features
  4. Botanical Sketching Workshop: Professional instruction on drawing techniques

Many participants shared that the workshop not only provided valuable knowledge about local flora but also offered the rare opportunity to learn botanical sketching from expert instructors. As a result, the fourth session quickly reached full capacity, with some attendees even recommending the workshop to friends. After the event, numerous participants eagerly inquired about registration details for future outdoor workshops, looking forward to experiencing nature firsthand and sketching plants in their natural habitat.

With the indoor workshops now successfully completed, we will launch outdoor experiential workshops in autumn and winter, inviting everyone to personally enjoy the delights of barrier-free hiking! Stay tuned for updates on our social media platforms!
